Linda took a sip of her drink and winked at him. "Didn't like that idea, huh? That's too bad. I was thinking about asking you to sell this place and run off with me." |

Bartholomew made another feeble pass at a smile. It worked better this time. He cocked his swollen head curiously to one side. He recognized the ugly sound; the shingles were starting to peel off the roof. The same thing had happened the last time they had a big blow. |
